Prior to joining Messrs Kumar & Co., Yaw Xinying read Law at the University of Nottingham and was called to utter bar of the Honourable Society of Middle Temple in 2021. She secured a pupillage under Dato Seri K. Kumaraendran at Kumar & Co and subsequently accepted tenancy upon completing her pupillage.
Ms. Yaw has developed a broad and varied practice in all areas of criminal law, having represented and has secured successful outcomes for clients charged with cheating and the proceeds of crime, drug trafficking and other serious and violent offence. She has a particular commitment to representing vulnerable defendants, including young persons and people with mental health difficulties.
Yaw also has a robust civil practice with a primary focus on insurance defence. She frequently appears before in a variety of personal injury claims representing several insurance companies. In addition, Ms. Yaw has been instructed to represent professionals appearing before professional discipline tribunals, including the Malaysian Medical Council. Aside from her insurance defence practice, Ms. Yaw has experience in representing clients in general litigation matters ranging from contractual disputes to matrimonial and child custody matters.
Yaw is an advanced Mandarin speaker and has experience of advising clients in various languages.
